Olympic Medalist Gracie Gold Received Bell of Hope Award

Philadelphia, Oct. 7, 2022 – Olympic figure skater and medalist Gracie Gold was recognized with the 2022 Bell of Hope Award at Mental Health Partnerships’ 23rd Annual Bell of Hope Celebration: Mental Health Impacts Everyone, on Oct. 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Philadelphia Marriott Old City.

Mental Health Partnerships’ Bell of Hope Award is presented annually to an individual who has made significant and far-reaching contributions to improving the lives of people with mental health and addiction challenges and their family members..

Gracie Gold has had an illustrious figure skating career. In 2014, she won a bronze medal in the team event at the Winter Olympic Games. She is a two-time US National Champion and six-time National medalist and has won events all around the globe. In 2017, Gold stepped away from the ice to seek help for her mental health around depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, and an eating disorder. She recently returned to the ice and has become a passionate mental health advocate. Gold has been featured in Sports Illustrated, the Players Tribune, the NY Times, the HBO documentary, Weight of Gold, and countless other news sources.

Former 6abc health and medical reporter Ali Gorman hosted the 2022 Bell of Hope Celebration. "I was so honored to be a part of this year's Bell of Hope Celebration and to continue to shine a spotlight on the importance of mental health,” Gorman said. “We must continue to spread the message that treating your emotional health is just as vital as managing your physical health.”
